The midlands are currently under the iron hand of Dictate Vortigen, who seized control twenty years ago after annihilating the Halldór royal line. Public records are dated strictly by the years of Vortigen's Dictate.
THE FIRST AGE
The Halldórian Era

Halldór monarchs hold the crown. They make treaties with Dynasty Solu, Om, and Ash in Solis, and an accord with the Aksalani. It is a long reign of peace across Magnushire with open borders and free passage.
Land of the Sol-Throne. A sun-scorched desert realm of pyramids, camels, and ancient temples, where a single city kneels in poverty beneath a divine emperor who rules through devotion to Oru, enforced prayer and absolute conformity.

Age of Ash

'The True Light'
To the ordinary citizens of Solis, the kingdom is celebrating its another year under the Age of Ash. In secret truth, the real Ashürnasirpal of dynasty Ash was murdered in 1521, and an imposter has occupied the Sol-Throne for the last twenty years.
